Face coverings "strongly advised" in places of worship with immediate effect

New guidance has been issued by the Church of England which "strongly advises the use of face coverings by all those attending a place of worship including ministers, worshipers, staff, volunteers, contractors and visitors, where there may be other people present."

The guidance also urges people to remember that face coverings are "intended to protect other people, not the wearer, from coronavirus COVID-19 and that they are not a replacement for physical distancing and regular hand washing."

In response to this guidance, we are strongly advising everyone who comes into our Benefice churches and buildings to wear a suitable face covering to ensure everyone's continued safety with immediate effect.

Please bear this in mind when attending our Sunday services or visiting our churches for personal prayer.

The full guidance, released on 23 July and which includes details on exemptions, details of suitable coverings and face covering care, can be found here -  Church of England Face Covering Advice

As we have not been able to welcome Worcester Philharmonic to the Abbey for their regular concerts during lockdown, they have sent us this wonderful performance of "Going Home", from Dvorak's Symphony No.9 "From the New World (arr. Joe Davies) to share with our congregation.

We very much look forward to a time when we can welcome Worcester Philharmonic back to Pershore Abbey and thank them for their wonderful gift of music!

St James, Birlingham, will be opening for private worship on Sunday July 19 and each following Sunday.

Pershore Abbey and St Mary's, Wick Re-open for Public Worship with services on 5 July at 1030

Pershore Abbey will be opening its doors for public worship for the first time in over three months this Sunday with a Said Eucharist Service at 1030.

Capacity will be reduced due to Social Distancing guidelines and the service will be a little different with no hymns being sung, but we welcome and embrace the opportunity to once again hold services in our church building.

A pre-recorded online service will be available for those who feel unable to attend or who are still shielding.

We are also delighted that St Mary's, Wick will be holding a Morning Praise service on 5 July at 1030 and a Parish Communion on 19 July at 1030.

Each of our churches faces a different challenge and St James', Birlingham and St Nicholas', Pinvin continue to work towards meeting these challenges as they plan to re-open in the near future.

St Andrew's Centre looks forward to milestone 50th Anniversary with new lighting project

In order to help the recovery of our society as we start to return to a "new normal" Wychavon has offered some funding to communities through a Crowd Funding Scheme.

They will give us £200 providing we raise at least £200 by the end of July. The Trustees are supporting the PCC in it's ECO Church programme and want to put our efforts into replacing the lighting in St Andrew's by LED.

You will have seen how the Abbey has been transformed - better lighting and cheaper to run. St Andrew's can be the
St Andrew's has been our "Church Hall" for nearly 50 years and many have enjoyed wedding receptions, parties, lots of teas and cakes, learnt how to paint or play the guitar, listened to many informative talks, been part of lots of children's groups. With your help it can be so for future generations as well

Ideally we would like to raise £2000 but £500 would be a good start!

Please pledge your support at or if you prefer, a cheque payable to St Andrew's Parish Centre Trust would also be most welcome.
