MAY 2017

Saturday 6th  7.30pm Pershore Town Council Mayor’s Charity Concert

Music of ‘beauty and transcendence’ in Abbey Concert

An exciting evening of music will be presented in Pershore Abbey on May 6th. The Mayor of Pershore has engaged Aphelion (local musicians Chris Long and Paula Evans) to programme and present a concert to raise funds for, and promote awareness of, St. Richard’s Hospice and the charity ‘Kids Run Free’.

The concert, entitled ‘TOWARDS THE WITHIN 2’, is the successor to last years’ sell-out Aphelion concert and, as per last year, the acoustics of the Abbey will be complemented by a specially-designed lighting environment in which to experience the music. Mrs Patricia Freeman, Chairman of the Friends of Pershore Hospital, (patrons of last year’s concert) said ‘Those of you have been fortunate enough to attend one of their performances will know what a treat is in store for us’.

The programme includes medieval chant by Hildegard of Bingen and music for vocal ensemble by the 20thC composers Jean Catoire and Caleb Burhans, as well as pieces for cello and piano by Arvo Part and Joby Talbot, alongside original music by Chris Long. Previous Aphelion concerts have been described as ‘sublime’, ‘hypnotic’ and ‘ethereal’, and the concert on May 6th promises to be no different.

Tickets are £12 (concessions for children) and can be purchased from ‘Blue’ in Broad Street or from the Pershore Town Council in High Street or Pershore Library in Church Street.
