We hope to re-start our weekly sessions from FRIDAY 30th APRIL, 9.30 -11.15 am at St Andrew’s Parish Centre.

Numbers will be restricted and places MUST be pre-booked.

In celebration of #princephilip’s remarkable lif

In celebration of #princephilip’s remarkable life of service and royal duty, we have today created a public tribute to him on the front corner of St Andrew’s Parish Centre here in #pershore . This will be in place over the weekend and we welcome people to pause and reflect during their daily exercise but ask that all social distancing regulations are adhered to.

Immediately prior to the funeral, the #pershoreabbey bell will toll once again from 2.45 pm - 2.55pm. This will be followed at 3pm by a National minute of silence.

Today is the perfect day for good news!
#we are thrilled to be able to announce that #pershoreabbey and St Andrew’s Parish Centre will be get an exciting boost.

The cultural heritage of Pershore Abbey and its neighbour St Andrew’s has been recognised. In a major grant from the National Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage the buildings will receive over £50,000 to help re-open when lockdown finally ends. Details of exactly how we can use the money for will follow from the Fund shortly as the money will need to be spent within three months.

The money will help improve equipment and the visitor experience for everyone from around the area, nationally and all over the world. The Abbey is recognised as a major church in the Worcestershire area. It is open every day and is a major cultural draw for Pershore and the surrounding area. It is also a popular venue for concerts and other events, such as the car show and the Teddy Bear parachutists from its famous suspended ringing platform.

St Andrew’s is also a heritage building and is now a favourite venue for lots of organisations locally and nationally. It has hosted the local Food Bank throughout lockdown and will continue to do so afterwards. But it will also now be able to offer more to the many other organisations, families and other people who use it.

Vicar, Claire Lording said “We are so grateful for the help being given to us to refresh and improve our cultural heritage. The Abbey and St Andrew’s have stood proud for over 700 years. They have withstood fire, flood and demolition. This money will help us to come out of this awful pandemic better prepared for an exciting future”

A reminder that tomorrow is the #nationaldayofrefl

A reminder that tomorrow is the #nationaldayofreflection when we will be observing a minute silence at 12 noon followed by our church bells tolling 125 times. This is to remember all those who have died during the pandemic and the 3 million people who have been bereaved, many of whom have been unable to properly say goodbye to loved ones or grieve.

The event has been organised by #mariecurieuk in partnership with other organisations, including @thechurchofengland , to mark the 12 month anniversary of the first National Lockdown of the #covid_19
Pandemic.

People are encouraged to show their support at home by displaying colourful posters in their windows or shining a light at 8pm.

A lasting tribute to 2020 is the #rainbowgarden created in St Andrew’s by our volunteers.

As you will see, we have today created another display as a visual reminder of this event so please do take time to walk around #standrewsparishcentre pause and reflect. 🕊🌼

#pershore Town Council are creating a Garden of Remembrance for Easter which will run from 29th March.

Residents may collect a flower from the town hall and write a personal message on a weatherproof tag in memory of a loved one.

Please join us on #23rdmarch at 12 noon as we observe a minute silence for the #nationaldayofreflection led by @mariecurieuk in partnership with @thechurchofengland At 12.01pm, the church bells from all four churches in our #pershore Benefice will toll 125 in memory of the 125,000 deaths that have occurred from #covid_19

On this day we will reflect and pray for all those who are bereaved, those suffering illness or financial hardship and for all our wonderful carers/key workers who have worked so hard for us in unprecedented conditions.

We are also asked to shine a light at 8pm - perhaps you could light a candle or put a flameless candle in your window?

Today #pershoreabi our Benefice Bear took her exercise in #standrewsparishcentre #rainbowgarden which was created last Spring to spread a little joy in the town.

Please do take a quiet walk around St Andrew’s Garden as the former churchyard was designated 50 years ago as a #gardenofpeace for people to sit quietly and reflect. It’s looking particularly pretty now with an abundance of spring flowers.

We also offer prayers to God for those who survived and ask that He send peace to their loved ones who were forever scarred by this terrible act of violence 🙏🏻🕊

NHS Gift Bags

We are delighted to report that our target of 100 bags for the Worcester ITU has been reached and exceeded!

Today some of our stalwart volunteers presented them to Nicola Langford who works in the fundraising & charity dept at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. The bags will be given out next week to staff in ICU who have worked tirelessly throughout this pandemic in the most difficult of circumstances. We keep them all constantly in our prayers 🙏🏻

The Gift Bag appeal has been so successful that we are extending it to our Pershore Community Hospital staff, so do keep those bags and items coming in! Attached are details of how you can help.

Thank you to everyone throughout our community who has so generously donated to this cause and special thanks to our wonderful organisers for all their hard work in coordinating everything 🌈❤️

They are on display on the front of St Andrew’s and as you can see have been disinfected 😁. If you would like one of these then please take one BUT do use a bag or disinfect your hands after picking one up.
