Today is also a very special day for another reason … it’s Canon Claire’s birthday 🥳We celebrated this occasion in the Abbey this morning with a beautiful cake made by Mrs Hilary Fowler 🎂 together with a card and gift presented by Churchwardens Sam Andrews & Martin Fowler on behalf of our Abbey community. Here’s hoping that this next year will bring Claire improved health, love and happiness. Today is also a very special day for another reason … it’s Canon Claire’s birthday 🥳

We celebrated this occasion in the Abbey this morning with a beautiful cake made by Mrs Hilary Fowler 🎂 together with a card and gift presented by Churchwardens Sam Andrews & Martin Fowler on behalf of our Abbey community.

Here’s hoping that this next year will bring Claire improved health, love and happiness. It’s been a very trying time for her health-wise on her cancer journey but she has borne it with great dignity, good humour and perseverance - an inspiration to us all. 🫶🏻

This week we welcomed back our amazing Steeplejack

This week we welcomed back our amazing Steeplejack team from @heritage_stone_access who checked over the louvres in the belfry. Thankfully the weather was kind to them 🙏🏻.

This work had to be done before Mr & Mrs P undertake their next breeding session in March and hopefully we will be calling on our Steeplejacks again in May for the ringing of tiny claws 🦅🐣. Well, we say “tiny” but there’s nothing really tiny about Peregrine Falcons 😂

It’s a never ending job maintaining our Grade I listed building and we are extremely grateful to all our contractors and our volunteers who work tirelessly organising and monitoring our ancient Abbey Church. 🙏🏻

There are always joys to be found in God’s creation if you look for them. Sometimes we just need to be still and look around 🙏🏻

It’s almost that Heavenly time of year again when the crisp white Snowdrops carpet the churchyard of St James’ in Birlingham, joined by the pretty early Spring crocuses 🫶🏻💐🌱.

So if the gloomy weather is getting you down, we are pleased to share these early photos of the churchyard today where already snowdrops are blooming 🤍💚.

Our Bulb Sunday Service will be held on 9th February at 3pm where you will be warmly welcomed, followed by refreshments at the Village Hall. Proceeds raised will go towards the upkeep of our beautiful church.

Earlier today, our Abbey choir sang outside ASDA

Earlier today, our Abbey choir sang outside ASDA here in Pershore amid a programme of different groups organised by Pershore Rotary.

This was part of their Christmas Tree charity fundraising in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice, St Richard’s Hospice and Midlands Air Ambulance.

Hopefully it all brought festive cheer amongst the Christmas shoppers as well as raising money for these charities 🎶 🎄🛍️
